All the world’s a stage: Bringing Shakespeare’s First Folio to life

This picture shows Liz Branigan, the University’s Senior Conservator, examining the folio. The original folio is on the right, next to a facsimile showing Shakespeare’s portrait, a page now missing from the stolen folio.

Journey into the world of Shakespeare through this family-friendly performance workshop! Taking inspiration from Cosin’s Library’s iconic First Folio, this session will introduce participants to some of Shakespeare’s most famous stories, characters, and language through creative and drama-based exercises. Workshop led by actor and theatre maker Alice Byrne.

About Alice:

Alice is an actor, theatre maker and workshop facilitator based in County Durham. Her most recent acting and theatre credits include Angels of the North with Northumberland Theatre Company and A Lit and Phil Carol with the November Club. As a facilitator, Alice leads Creative Learning Workshops in primary schools across the North East, utilizing drama techniques to help develop understanding and engagement with curriculum topics. Alice’s theatre and performance work often focuses on amplifying local stories, communities, and history. So, she is incredibly excited to be part of the Cosin’s Library workshop programme and begin bringing the library’s collections to life.
